About Naeem
A parent, a project leader, a community builder.
Naeem Awan is a father of four children who attended Waterloo Region District School Board schools. That experience shaped his belief in the transformative power of public education and in the responsibility we share to help every student learn, grow and succeed.
As Chair of the School Parent Council at Southwood Secondary School, a founding member and director of the Rotary Club Sunset Cambridge, and Co-Chair of the City of Cambridge Art & Culture Committee, he has spent years bringing parents, students, educators and community partners to the same table. As a Project Management Professional, he brings planning, budgeting and accountable decision-making to the work of governance.

Why I’m running
I am honoured to put my name forward as a candidate for Waterloo Region District School Board Trustee because I believe in the transformative power of public education and the responsibility we share in ensuring every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
Education is one of the most important investments we make in our children and our communities. A strong public education system not only prepares students for academic success and future careers but also helps develop responsible citizens, strengthens families, and contributes to a more inclusive and prosperous society.
